'Blinded by a light; my soul is held up in glory; I engulf the skies; the apostle in triumph...'

The last week of the quarter has arrived.  Since midterms, I've been pretty busy with random assignments, mostly with our CD packaging project in Intermediate Imaging Techniques.  I just have a midterm left in Workplace Communications and a Project Critique for my CD stuff, and Fall Quarter '06 is done.

Just in time for my winter break, Killswitch is coming through town on Friday.  I picked up my ticket today, so I am definately to the point of giddy for that.  Yeah, I said it giddy.  Last August when I saw them, they put on a fantastic show, so I have some high hopes for this time through.  'As Daylight Dies' was everthing I was expecting and more.  I still say 'Alive or Just Breathing' is there best, but I do like 'Daylight' more than 'Heartache'.

I picked up Leaves' Eyes follow up EP to 'Vinland Saga' a while back, which I never really listened to until a couple of days ago for some reason.  'Legend Land' is decent enough for what it is.  I love Liv Christine's voice too much to not enjoy their music, so there always a safe bet from now on.

I've still been listening the hell out of 'The Fall of Ideals'.  It just keeps getting better.  I don't know if I've ever heard double bass as fast as the chorus of 'This Calling'.  It's rediculous.  I should have my top five albums of the year list pretty quickly.  It seems to have been a pretty decent year for metal just thinking off of the top of my head.

'No secrets, deceptions, for these would tear this down...'

So it's been forever and a day since I updated this.  Last week was midterm week, so that was just as fun as it always is.  I went with a new preparation technique for my midterms, which was to not study at all, and then cram as much as i could into the five minutes before class.  Apparently it works, since I got everything right on my Philosophy of Ethics one, and a 96% on my Workplace Communications one.  Go me.

Killswitch is coming through Grand Rapids in December, which should be a good time.  I was definately more excited when this was in the planning stage though, when Shadows Fall was the support instead of Hatebreed.

I picked up Arch Enemy's 'Live Apocalypse' DVD and All That Remains latest disc 'The Fall of Ideals' today.  The ATR disc is amazingly better than I thought it would be.  I bought since I had heard a couple of the tracks on their site, and liked that they had introduced some clean vocals into the mix.  Well those two songs are probably my least favorite on the album, and the album pretty much blew me away.  It's been awhile since a disc had done that.  'As Daylight Dies' definately has some strong competition for best Metalcore album of the year.  I'm watching 'Live Apocalypse' later, but it looks pretty sweet from the ecard I've seen.

'I'm the grand orchestrator; infinite form and the infinite design...'

So I don't update this nearly enough.  I'm back in 'The Musk' a full two weeks into fall quarter, and I can already tell that it will be a busy quarter.  I have Intermediate Imaging Techniques, Philosophy of Ethics and Workplace Communications this quarter, and all three have quite a bit of random busy work, plus random projects and papers.

In the last four weeks, I've seen 'The Protector', 'Fearless', 'Jackass Number 2', 'The Departed', and 'School for Scoundrels'.  I recommend all five, but you may want to wait for 'Scoundrels' to hit video if you're not a Billy Bob Thornton fan, since he definately has the best lines in the movie.

Went home this weekend for Rewa's 22nd.  Always a fun time to be had at the home of the Ratboy.  It seems wierd when I realize that I'll be 22 in March.  I mean, seriously, when did that happen?

I've been listening to a stream of Trivium's latest, 'The Crusade' on and off tonite.  I think I liked it better when it was called '...And Justice for All' and didn't suck.  I'm pretty sure I just heard the lyric of 'I'll break every bone in your face...'  What?  That sounds like something I'd say to sound like an ass, not a badass.  They also desperately need to stop trying to sound identical to old-school Metallica.  On the bright side, if you want to listen to a band that sounds like Metallica should, chances are 'The Crusade' will be a better option than Metallica's next effort....

At least Killswitch is still' putting out sweet music.  The first single from 'As Daylight Dies' is, conveniently enough, 'Daylight Dies'.

'They wear white for me, seemingly jaded and lost...'

So I've been done with summer quarter for a couple of weeks now.  Since the week I finished up school was the first week for pretty much everyone else to go back, I've had a lot of extra free time.  I've had to take care of some things around the house for my mom, but other than that I've been home doing pretty much nothing and loving every minute of it.

With some of that extra time I joined up in some Fantasy Football leagues.  I ended up with a total of four different teams this year.  So far, everything's been running pretty smoothly as I won all four of my games week one.

Did the IHOP thing last week.  It was a grand time as always.  I downloaded a N64 emulator, so I've been playing a lot of Mario Kart 64 and Mario 64.  I figure I'll eventually get a game pad, so that Mortal Kombat Trilogy will once again rule my free time.

Been listening to 'Sacrament' a lot the last couple of weeks.  It was amazing to begin with, and it has still grown on me.  Definately my second favorite Lamb of God album right behind 'As the Palaces Burn'.  In fact, it's so good that you should go buy it right now.

And of course, I've changed to the music to my favorite track off of 'Still Life', 'White Cluster'.

'Take hold of my hand, you are no longer alone...'

In case you didn't go pick it up today, Lamb of God have the enitre 'Sacrament' album streaming on their MySpace.   It is amazing.  So go listen to it...and then go buy it.

'Even if all my bones are broken, I will drag myself back from the edge...'

I have seen the light and that light is...'Snakes on a Plane.'

And all is right with the universe.

'Devious movements in your eyes moved me from relief...'

Tickets for the September 21st Milwaukee stop on the Gigantour go on sale this Saturday.  Like last year, tickets will be $31 (plus whatever Ticketmaster wants to add) for general admission.  Anyone who wants to go let me know as soon a possible.

Since I really hadn't bought anything for me this summer, I bought 'V for Vendetta' (two disc version) and season one of 'Prison Break' last nite.  If anyone out there wants 'Prison Break', Meijer's has it on sale this week for $26.99 (the price listed is like $50 normally), so get it quick.

I got a suprise phone call from Ashley on Monday, which was very cool.  It was good to talk to her again for a while.  It had been too long.

And finally, in one of Tiny's finest moments, he was in a rush ordering food and Mc Donalds and tried to order a number six with a four piece to drink.  You read that right.

'Pray for blood, pray for cleansing...'

Lamb of God has added a 'hidden' track to the 'Sacrament' site.  'Walk With Me in Hell' is the second song off of 'Sacrament' to be released before the album comes out August 22.  Personally I think this song sounds like it came straight off of 'Palaces', but got the production treatment that 'Ashes' got...and the solo is regoddamndiculous.  Overall it's much better than 'Redneck', and it sounds more like the Lamb of God we all love so dearly.

To start 'Walk With Me in Hell' scroll around near this point:

'I walk through Elysian Fields; the light is shining on me...'

So the first press release regarding Gigantour 2006 was made today, and the line up is rediculously good.

Megadeth
Lamb of God
Opeth
Arch Enemy
Overkill
Into Eternity
Sanctity
The Smashup
& more bands to be added to second stage in the near future.

For those of you keeping track at home, that's four of my top 8 bands (presumably on mainstage). I've seen both Megadeth and Opeth multiple times and they always seem to put on a good show, and I've been wanting to see Arch Enemy and Lamb of God live for some time now.  I don't know much about Overkill other than they're an old-school thrash band.  I've heard a couple of songs by Into Eternity before, and I remember enjoying them.  Sanctity is a old-school sounding, new-school thrash band, that sounds awesome, from the one demo I've heard by them.  I knew nothing about The Smashup, so I did a little research, and they are a Post-Hardcorish Punkish band to the best of my genre defining skills (they're on this year's Warped Tour if that helps put their sound into perspective).

As it seems almost tradition at this point (and the fact that there is no Michigan date other than Detroit), it appears that a trip to Milwaukee is in my future.  Gigantour rolls through Milwaukee on September 21.  More info on ticket price to come in the future (last year's were $32, so I'm thinking that it'll be somewhere in that ball park again).

Transformers just became my second most anticipated movie of 2007.
